The Frank Erwin Center is the premiere venue in Austin, Texas for public and private events. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the Frank Erwin Center has seen it all; Presidents, sporting events, and super star concerts ranging from Lawrence Welk to George Strait to The Cheetah Girls. Austin’s Grimes won the Austin edition of Kenny Chesney’s Next Big Star Competition, which determines the opening act at each of the stops on the Poets & Pirates 2008 Tour. Middle act LeAnn Rimes is miles away from the 13-year-old girl with the big voice who aped Patsy Cline. Chesney is, of course, one of country music’s biggest names (and shortest stars).
