Indoor venues will be settings for preforming and visual arts.<br /><br />First night is a public celebration of the arts that revives the ancient custom of marking the passage of time with art, ritual, festivity... transforming Austin into a citywide celebration of cultural richness and artistic diversity.<br /><br />The concept of First Night Austin was created by a group of community-minded artists in Boston who were ignited by the idea of a citywide celebration of the New Year -- a meaningful alternative to traditional revelry.
