Arizonan Shawn Foree’s new Goner LP, Sorcerer (mastered by Jay Reatard, in case that’s important), isn’t exactly the genre-bending music of the future it’s purported to be, but it delivers the goods anyhow, slapping down a studio side of sneering electro and live side of trashy punk. “Aztec and Maya Revival,” which runs until Sept. 16 at the Mexic-Arte Museum, includes furniture, ceramics, paper, books and authentic pre-Columbian artifacts in the main gallery. The exhibit includes paintings from Roberto Montenegro and Miguel Covarrubias, and the back gallery appeals to horror aficionados with showings of 1950s Mexican horror films from the Aztec Mummy Collection.

The Melvins have begun a second life since the addition of two-man wrecking crew Big Business, which pulls double duty as opener. Their monolithic second album together, Nude With Boots (Ipecac), is chock-full of midtempo metal dirges, tandem drum sequences, and thundering Zeppelin grooves.
