With a name that sounds like Buddy Holly bestowed it, Betty Soo wooed and won Austin’s heart with last year’s Little Tiny Secrets and Never the Pretty Girl. Soo’s stock-in-trade of girl-with-a-guitar lands her on a crowded bench, but a deft songwriter’s touch lifts her above it with panache. Those CDs garnered well-deserved acclaim for the second-generation Korean who’s found that folk and pop do well with a bit of twang. more at austinchronicle.com
