Fronted by the eccentric and unpredictable Adam “Doseone” Drucker, Oakland, Calif., sixpiece Subtle is treading buzz with third LP ExitingARM (Lex), a platter of electronica, hip-hop, and hints of TV on the Radio. Subtle: Live, expect a quintet, as keyboardist Dax Pierson, who sustained a paralyzing injury in 2005, no longer tours with the group. Locals Vehicular and Lady Pterodactyl lead with Austin’s not-so-normal side. – Chase Hoffberger

AA-S Best Bet – Danse La Lune:
For those not completely familiar with French, ‘dans la lune’ could be translated as ‘in the moon.’ This local rock band is much more than just a group playing by the light of the moon. Their music has a garage feel to it with a mix of Brit pop. The Unbearables, a power-pop group with great harmonies, opens for them.

AA-S Best Bet – Hell Caminos:
Hawaii is known for many things — volcanoes, leis, hula dancing and beautiful waters. One thing that might not come directly to mind is the music — besides Don Ho, that is.
The Hell Caminos are out to change the thought on Hawaiian music. Rolling rock, psychobilly and punk into one genre, the Caminos are touring to showcase their recent album, “Lust.” So if you’ve always looked for that band that combined Johnny Cash’s sound with the Dropkick Murphys’ stage energy, the Hell Caminos are about to become your main flame in the music world.

AA-S Best Bet – Matt Wilson Trio:
Matt Wilson never catagorizes his music style. The closest he gets with his trio is saying ‘blues/rock/country/funk/jam/whatever band.’ Whatever genre you hear in his music, it’s good.
