AA-S Best Bet – Remembering Clifford Antone:
Friday marks the second anniversary of the death of one of Austin’s most prominent music figures and social activists: Clifford Antone. In honor of Antone’s memory, his sister Susan Antone has organized a tribute concert featuring some of her brother’s favorite Austin acts. Clifford Antone is the namesake and founder of the internationally known nightclub Antone’s, which is readily regarded as the home of Austin’s blues scene. Clifford grew up in Port Arthur and relocated to Austin in the late ‘60s to attend UT, later opening Antone’s in an old furniture warehouse in 1975.

AA-S Best Bet – Alberto Mizrahi:
Cantor Alberto Mizrahi has been called “the Jewish Pavarotti” by critics and fans alike for most of his nearly 30-year career. Much like the recently deceased and beloved Italian tenor, Mizrahi also has Mediterranean roots (Mizrahi is Greek-born) and matches Pavarotti in both charisma and physique.
Mizrahi, who is generally regarded as one of the world’s foremost interpreters of Jewish music, sings in nine languages and has performed in front of distinguished audiences at the Netherlandish Hague, Capitol Rotunda, Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. Tonight’s performance at Agudas Achim only honors Hazzan Neil Blumofe’s 10th anniversary with the congregation and welcomes AgudasARTS to the Aytz Chaim Foundation and commemorates Israel at 60.
