Louis CK is one of the best stand-ups working today, spinning hilarious, shockingly honest stories about his life and family that never fall back on shock value. (Well, except for that infamous bit about finding a barrel of duck vaginas in Chinatown.) His recent DVD Louis CK: Shameless is a riot, but fans won’t have to worry about hearing old jokes here: CK recently wrapped his newest stand-up special, Chewed Up, so expect a fresh dose of his twisted yet oddly old-fashioned comedy. Slyly sarcastic opener Todd Barry most recently delighted fans of Flight Of The Conchords with a role as a crude bongo-playing egomaniac, which should help propel sales of his new CD, From Heaven.

RJD2 rose steadily in the hip-hop underground thanks to collaborations with people like Blueprint, Diplo, and Aceyalone, which made his proclamation in 2006 that he was going “rap free” a bit surprising. RJ’s recent The Third Hand marks an abrupt swerve into the realm of organic, instrumental-based prog-pop. The album’s reception has been predictably mixed—but that should make for an eclectic crowd. Out-there New Jersey hip-hop group Dälek mixes leaden, moody rap with blistering noisescapes that could make Definitive Jux nihilist El-P shudder. The group hooked up with Mike Patton’s Ipecac label starting with 2002’s From Filthy Tongue Of Gods And Griots, which plumbed intriguing depths with a mess of crusty beats and raw rock stabs, and has grown even darker since. Opening: Happy Chichester.
