Summer in Austin means less clothing, and this Friday lust and all its infinite byproducts are in the air. Local pop trio Alright Tonight goes walkin’ after midnight, pronouncing “Romance Is Dead.†Springfield, Mo., trio Thee Fine Lines dish out some strange from their most recent garage-rock whip, Set You Straight (Licorice Tree), and the Thunderchiefs kick off the night with some touchy-feely surf rock under the boardwalk. – Audra Schroeder

Girl in a Coma sure singed some eyelashes with May’s debut Both Before I’m Gone. But don’t forget they’d caught the ear of Morrissey co-songwriter Boz Boorer years before, and the eye of Joan Jett, who promptly signed the San Antone ladies to her Blackheart label last year. Not that it’s unwarranted. Their sonic punk barrage, bolted down by powerhouse vocalist/guitarist Nina Diaz, is damn catchy, and will act as a swift kick in the pants on this summer’s Warped Tour. Scream team Ume opens. – Audra Schroeder
