Event: Future Prologues: The Compression of Post-Pop Narratives into Non-Space and Pre-Time
An all inclusive sensory experience featuring the work of the eight members of Totally Wreck Institute examining the nature of reality and time curated by CRL Director Jade Walker and Risa Puleo, Assistant Curator of American and Contemporary Art at the Blanton Museum.
Opening Reception: Saturday, October 18, 2008 from 6 - 9 pm
Live Performances presented throughout opening reception.
Exhibition: October 18 - November 8, 2008
Gallery Hours: 12pm - 5 p.m., Tuesday–Saturday
Artist Talk: Monday, October 27, 2008 from 6-8pm
Where: Creative Research Laboratory (CRL), 2832 East Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
CRL is inside Flatbed World Headquarters.
Background: Future Prologues features the multimedia work of eight young Austin artists and UT alumni who collectively call themselves Totally Wreck Institute. Concerned with perceptions of reality and time, the artists aim to create a multimedia odyssey through culture, mythology, and technology.
Featured artists are Ben Aqua, Juan Cisneros, Kyle Dixon, Mark P. Hensel a.k.a. Mizzzard, Mike Ruiz, David Salinas, Malcolm Elijah Welbourne, and Lanneau White.
The Creative Research Laboratory (CRL) presents a year-round schedule of exhibitions, featuring work by students and faculty at The University of Texas at Austin. For more information about the CRL, visit:
