We are profoundly inspired by the strenghth and courage of the people of New Orleans. There are still an enormous amount of individuals and families continuing to pay morgages on unlivable homes and reside in cramped FEMA trailer homes. Many New Orleans families have personally stated to us that they understand the generousity that people around the country have shown by donating money to various charities, however they are not seeing the money. Many of them have started repairs on their homes, but have run out of money. The Trailers to Homes: reNew Orleans Benefit's mission is to donate 100% of all proceeds raised, to families in New Orleans still struggling to finish their homes and get out of their FEMA trailers, nearly two years after the hurricane Katrina hit. Trailers to Homes is dedicated to working with St. Bernard Project who currently has volunteers working on over 47 homes in the New Orleans area. The volunteer commitment has been outstanding, however many projects frequently come to a stand still due to funding issues. If you are interested in volunteering with Trailers to Homes or would like to make a donation, please contact Mary Nicosia or Wendy Melinger at this site.
