Blitzen Trapper is a Portland-based experimental alt-folk-rock band who have been making serious waves in the sea of indie rock for the past few years. After self-releasing their first three albums, including 2007's highly acclaimed Wild Mountain Nation, the sextet landed a deal with the highly influential Sub Pop record label resulting in 2008's Furr. This new album has been called a "brilliant and hard-earned combination of ambition and craft," two qualities that rarely overlap.

Little Joy is new collaboration between Brazilian singer-guitarist Rodrigo Amarante of Los Hermanos, drummer Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes, and Los Angeles-based musician Binki Shapiro. When these three friends got together for a jam session they ended up with an easily accessible pop album that mixes a carefree attitude with south-of-the-border influences and elements of Beach Boys-esque 60's pop. Up-and-comers Dead Trees and True Widow open the joyous show at The Parish on Saturday.
