Shapes Have Fangs
Shapes Have Fangs is the Chemical Wedding of four - Josh Willis on bass, Dustin Coffey on rhythm guitar and vocals, Evan McGlothlin on drums, and Skyler McGlothlin on guitar and keys. Their inspiration roots from the Monas Hieroglyphica - enigmatic treatise on symbolic language. Currently they are transcribing excerpts from AMBIX, XII - in to 4th dimensional sound walls.
The Black
The Black flows from the songwriting collaboration of singer/guitarist David Longoria and guitarist Alan Schaefer, and their ears are trained toward Seventies Southern rock; they have an affinity for the Band, if not in their swagger than in the several live songs they've covered. The Black seems as misnomer, though, as the songs here radiate. Opener "Cell Block" is slap-happy pop, threaded with Longoria's lyrics ("How...read more
Yeasayer
Pulling from every spectrum and mashing, then re-mashing, YEASAYER have bent genres until they've become unrecognizable. It would only be a lazy stab to make modern day comparisons. Please, make this an exercise.YEASAYER’S components are four, with each one a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and chanter. Founded by half of a barbershop quartet, then followed by the rhythm, YEASAYER is a tight brotherhood undisrupted by th...read more
David Allan Coe
Born September 6th 1939 in Akron, Ohio, USA. From the age of nine, Coe was in and out of reform schools, correction centers and prisons. According to his publicity handout, he spent time on Death Row after killing a fellow inmate who demanded oral sex. When Rolling Stone magazine questioned this, Coe responded with a song, 'I'd Like To Kick The Shit Out Of You'. Whatever the truth of the matter, Coe was paroled in 1967 and took his...read more
Explosions in the Sky
Hailing from the sultry metropolitan landscape of Austin, TX, Explosions In The Sky are some of the most sincere folks you will ever meet. Equal parts romance and tragedy, their beautiful melodies have the tendency to ignite into head-spinning walls of noise. Easily one of the most intense live bands ever, their sound proves to be...read more

Loxsly
Mp3Hugger.com Loxsly - Stethoscope Can there be anything more exciting than discovering an unsigned gem amongst the plethora of musical resources spread throughout myspace? Probably a few I suppose but right at this moment Austin 5-piece Loxsly are consuming me. Not in an agonising Ebola like way, more in a fuzzy first date type of one. Stethoscope could be the most affable piece of awkward pop Ive heard this year. It mixes equal parts Mercury...read more

Thievery Corporation
One evening dance aficionado Eric Hilton was out in Washington DC enjoying a casual drink when he bumped into Rob Garza. Several cocktails later, the two had become such fast friends, they decided to form Thievery Corporation. Their mix of downtempo house grooves was so smooth and tight that they quickly found fame on the electronic circuit. When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth
Local sevenpiece When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth is beyond definition. Crash bam boom. Pop metal noise. Start stop holler. Whatever. The Tuxedo Killers-Awesome Cool Dudes combo is loud, jittery, and – get this – completely in control. Where most noise bands spit and sputter above a staccato guitar spurt, Dinos play with time changes, melody, and power. Don't let opening number "Glee Club" fool you, either. These aren...read more

Wolf Parade
There have been a number of Wolf bands that have crept into the mainstream press in recent months, but Montreal's Wolf Parade are the lobos of choice in the indie-kid set. The band's very first gig came about when they weren't even a band, after friends in the Arcade Fire asked Arlen Thompson to open for them. Thompson teamed up with Spencer Krug, and the two came up with a number of songs in a matter of days while holed up in a ti...read more
Alejandro Escovedo
Musically, Alejandro Escovedo is in his own genre, notes David Fricke in Rolling Stone. High words of praise indeed, especially at a time when most popular music is boxed into styles and rife with references, influences and antecedents. Escovedo may possess a miles wide palette of music that he has absorbed and draws from, yet his own sound defies categorization and transcends boundaries. He is also a consummate storyteller who is held in the ...read more
Best Fwends
we spent the chilly month of January 2007 living in a crawl-space of a warehouse in Brooklyn. we played many amazing shows and somehow (magic? FATE?) we were privileged to meet and record with one of our favorite bands of all time, Gerty Farish. the four of us "borrowed" (yoink!) a key to the shared practice space of Parts & Labor and Matt & Kim and jammed on their instruments all day and night for 2 days before being kicked out so the other b...read more
